Guides in Lancashire North West are to be offered an exciting international opportunity following an International Community Experience weekend to be held next year.
The two-day event at Guy’s Farm, which will be held in May and aimed at Guides, will be based around community service work such as tree-planting, hedge-laying and dry-stone walling or path renovation.
Guides aged 11-12 who show a particular desire for continuing such activities will then be offered the chance to undertake a four-day event in Eastern Europe.
A group of 10-20 girls and 3 adults will spend their October half-term working on a community service project within a European community and gaining cultural experiences.
It is currently estimated that the weekend at Guys Farm will cost £35, and the four-day trip to Europe will cost around £350, with grants available.
Further information will be made available in early 2013. Leaders aged 18+ with an interest in this area are welcome to apply as assistant leaders. Please contact Elaine Clare – International Advisor: a.e.clare@gingganggooli.freeserve.co.uk
